The Rimper, Donaghmore Strand, Fanad, Donegal

Hidden in the wilds of Donegal on the Fanad Peninsula is where the Donaghmore Strand is found. There are no roads or path to access the beach directly. Only with the help of a local man and ordnance survey map was a suitable route made passing through many fields. Until the tall sand dunes and high grass were met, then, did the untouched beauty of the white strands appeared. The Oyster-catcher were at work at the end of the beach where the wreck lay.

I had asked the night previously in the bar about the wreck. There was a story but it wasn't to be told, only it's name was given - The Rimper. It had decayed considerably compared to the image that Brennan the barman had shown me. The blue paint on it's bows was now gone. In fact not many had venture to the shores of Donaghmore strand, certainly not tourists and few locals had either.

The reflection took awhile to achieve as the tide flowed back and forth, just at the right moment with enough light from the broken clouds I pressed the remote cable release for the camera's shuttter.
