Sea stack from Wilderness Cave

Isle of Mull, Scotland - Venturing back out to the wilderness in the mist and fog. Not recommended if you have being there before. Fortunate for me two days previous I'd made the hike. The return visit prove to be well rewarding with fog and mist - perfect for picture making. I have to say I was a bit weary of getting lost or missing my step. The cliffs and path here are perilous and unforgiving in parts. Equip with a flask of coffee and the necessary sandwiches. I left the iPhone play on speaker in the event I fall over the edge they could find easily dead or alive listening to Clannad (well it seemed eerily appropriate at this location).

The cave itself it this picture is quite long maybe about 80 metres, a head lamp was essential to reach the end, there are too rooms inside, large enough to camp comfortably.

Technical Notes: Due to huge dynamic range of the exposure through this image. It was necessary to take multiple exposures combining them together to create the final photograph. A method know as HDR. Selective masks for the sky areas, the stack itself and the cave to make further improvements such as shadows, burning and sharpening.
